Linking Objects

Linking objects example

Object linking facilitates the creation of flowcharts, mind maps, diagrams, or simple associations. Objects stay connected via their linked lines no matter where objects are moved.

Shapes that can link

Object linking is available for sticky notes and the first two lines in the objects menu: rectangle, circle, triangle, diamond, pentagon, hexagon, trapezoid, parallelogram, star, starburst, flag, cyclinder, talk bubbles, heart, egg, and block arrows.

After selecting an object, clicking one of the blue dots surrounding the object will initiate a line link where you may link it to any part of another object that supports object linking.

You can, of course, change any property of the linking line.

Alternatively, after initiating a line link, you may drop it into free space and choose from the following options:

  • Duplicate the object type the link originated from.
  • Select and create an object to link to.
  • Make no selection and leave an open link to change at a later date.
